Stocks Up in Japan and China; most other major markets are closed for holidays

Markets in Japan and mainland China rose on Friday, following another record day on Wall Street as most other major world markets were closed for the Good Friday holiday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 NIK, + 1.23% was up 1.1%, with SoftBank 9984, + 3.94% up more than 3%. The Shanghai Composite SHCOMP, + 0.43%, was up 0.4%, while the smaller-cap Shenzhen 399106 Composite, + 1.00%, was up 1%. South Korea’s Kospi 180721, + 0.69% gained 0.7% and shares were up in Malaysia’s FBMKLCI, + 0.11%. The markets of Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore and Taiwan were closed for the holidays.
