Ministers ready to review Welsh supermarket rules

Drakeford to “scrap politics”, while Welsh Conservative leader Paul Davies called for the Senedd / Wales Parliament to be called “virtually” to debate the issue.

“This is absolute insanity on the part of the Welsh Government, preventing people from buying the products they want to buy,” he said.

In an interview with BBC Wales, Drakeford said: “The position we face in Wales is really and deeply serious and during these two weeks we ask people to stay home and not mix with other people as much as possible.

“If the rules are not sensible rules, if anomalies arise, we will correct them, but the basic underlying public health emergency has not gone away.

“The basic decision is the correct one. If the implementation of it, the interpretation of it needs to be reviewed to make sure the rules are sensible, then we will.”
