The Hong Kong Hang Seng HSI Index, + 0.45%, rose 0.5% and the Straits Times Singapore STI Index, -0.01% fell fractionally in shorter trading days. Australia’s S & P / ASX 200 XJO, -0.10% fell 0.1%. The markets of Japan, mainland China, South Korea and Taiwan were closed. The official Lunar New Year holiday begins on Friday.
