While the basic characteristics of some stocks remain intact and the shares are simply down in the broader market, others have struck for a reason. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: While good stocks bounce like tennis balls, bad stocks fall like rocks. And the last thing you want is a rock that burns a hole in your pocket when the stock market rally resumes.
That said, sometimes a good stock can go bad and vice versa. This is why I created my blog post Weekly Upgrades & Downgrades based on my Portfolio Grader ratings. Every week, I scan nearly 5,000 stocks and compile a list of blue chips, with a market capitalization of at least $ 10 billion, to show you which of them have been upgraded to buy and hold, or downgraded to hold and sell. . Take, for example, Monday’s post:

As you can see above, 84 shares were upgraded or downgraded over the weekend. This includes companies such as Lowe’s Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW), which was upgraded to a B-rated “Buy” and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), which was downgraded to a C-rated “Hold”. Chances are that you have at least one of these 84 shares in your portfolio, either directly or in fund shares.
But I understand if you do not have time to check your stocks week to week, why I also have my Portfolio Grader 500. This is a quarterly guide to the best and worst stocks for the current quarter. This is my master list of 250 A- and B-power plants, plus 250- D- and F-rated bearings to sell immediately. Each class listed is a projection for the entire quarter.
Portfolio Grader 500 has predominantly large shares that are either at the top of the pile (the shares to be bought) or at the bottom of the pile (the shares to be sold), according to my stock picking system. This list is generated entirely using the information covered by my Portfolio Degrees (namely the quantitative grade and the eight parts that make up the basic grade.)
Let me give you an example …
On January 2, I released my Portfolio Grader 500 for the first quarter. Alcoa Corporation (NYSE: AA) had an F rating, which made it a strong sale. In comparison, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMD) was A-rated, making it a strong buy. Take a look at the chart below to see how they performed during the first quarter.
As you can see, AA lost 70%. This is almost four times the damage suffered by the S&P 500, which is 18.5% down to end the quarter. On the other hand, AMD got 4%, which is quite impressive in the current bear market. It was obvious that my predictions were on something!
If you do not want to sort 500 shares every quarter – I have covered you with my Platinum Growth Club Model Portfolio. I only recommend the crème de la crème of stocks, all of which receive high ratings in Portfolio Grades. So you can be sure that you are investing in the best of the best.
If you try us now, you’ll get my Portfolio Grader 500. And that’s perfect timing, because I’ll be publishing my last 250 best stocks to buy and the 250 best stocks to sell tomorrow. So you have plenty of time to adjust your portfolio for the second quarter, which will surely be a wild one.
In addition, in the Platinum Growth Club, I will release the names of three new companies that are flashing the “buy” signal after closing tomorrow. These will benefit from the online boom in China right now. You do not want to miss.
