Aryna Sabalenka captured her third straight singles title with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory over Veronika Kudermetova of Russia in the final of the WTA Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Open on Wednesday. The fourth-seeded Belarusian followed tournament victories in Ostrava and Linz to end 2020 by extending her career-best winning streak to 15 matches on Wednesday. She has nine career WTA singles titles. “I am very happy to keep winning, and I will do my best to keep winning,” Sabalenka said. “No one likes to lose”. Sabalenka, 22, posted 18 winners against 13 unforced errors and converted six of her 12 break points to ruin Kudermetova’s bid for her first singles final. Kudermetova had 24 unforced errors and only 13 winners. Sabalenka, world number 10, won the only previous meeting against Kudermetova in 2015 on the ITF Challenger circuit. –Field level media
