Here’s what you need to know about the new Disney CEO.

Bob Chapek takes over as the next CEO of Disney. This causes him to assume the position immediately. Chapek is a longtime employee of the company and joined the whole thing in 1993. During his time with Disney, the newest CEO has had many hats. Some of these include president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, distribution manager of Walt Disney Studios, president of former Disney Consumer Products. His most recent role is Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts from 2015 to 2018, and then Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products from 2018. Prior to serving at Disney, Chapek was involved in brand management for HJ Heinz Company. He was also employed by J. Walter Thompson in its advertising department. The new Disney CEO also holds a BS in microbiology from Indiana University Bloomington, as well as an MBA from Michigan State University.

With Chapek taking over as the new CEO of Disney, Iger moves to become the company’s CEO. This also leaves the chairman of the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products position open. Disney says it will fill that role at a later date.

The DIS share fell 4.06% as of Wednesday afternoon.

At the time of writing, William White had no position in any of the above securities.
