Ethereum’s bullish $ 10K call options excite traders, but there’s a catch

The $ 10,000 Ether (ETH) call options on Dec. 31 recently stood out after surpassing $ 15.2 million in open interest (8,400 contracts). These instruments give the buyer the right to acquire Ether at a future date for a fixed price and the seller is obliged to respect it. For this right, the buyer pays an initial fee (premium) to the seller of the call option. For this reason, call options are considered bullish-neutral as they provide their buyer with the possibility of high leverage with a small initial investment. This ‘right’ is currently trading for $ 263, equivalent to 14% of the underlying price of ETH futures on December 31st. Source: Deribit Position BuilderETH Calendar Spread simulation.
